LOOKING FOR A SCENIC SPOT TO VISIT?

The historic Red Mill is located at
N2190 County Hwy. K, in the
Town of Little Hope,
just 3 miles south of
Waupaca, WI.

It’s a wonderful - completely free! -
place to visit where you can
wander the sun-dappled grounds
lush with foliage (or snow!),
and have a picnic on the banks
of the Crystal River.  Fishing is
allowed and encouraged!
There’s a romantic covered
foot bridge that leads to the
darling tiny chapel where,
for a reasonable cost,
brides and grooms can get
hitched by the minister
of their choice.

Don’t drive through southern
Wisconsin without stopping
to experience the almost
supernatural serenity of
the Red Mill!

Suddenly One Notices a Plaque on the Wall

Among the various icons and religious articles
to be found in the tiny chapel on the Red Mill
grounds, there hangs on the wall, between two
stained glass windows, a rough-hewn sign board
entreating the assistance of the “Great Spirit.”

The Red Mill site sits atop ground
that long ago was roamed and inhabited
by Native Americans indigenous to the area.
Many Native American tribes were known
for worshipping a “Great White Spirit,” as well
as having superstitious beliefs about nature
and animals being extensions of that “Spirit.”

I’ll leave it up to you, dear reader, to make up
your own mind about the probable nature of
this supernatural being which has allowed
itself to be captured on film at the Hole
wedding.  Maybe you believe it was
simply a photographic anamoly.  Maybe
you believe that God sent an angel to bless
this union.  Or, maybe you are more inclined
to believe that a “Great Spirit,” either good or
evil, has taken up residence in this small,
cozy chapel in the woods in response to
the plaque that warmly welcomes him there.

YOU DECIDE!  (Scroll down…)
